Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

UN chief condemns sectarian violence in Pakistan Geneva - UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon strongly condemned suicide blast in southwestern Pakistan which killed 84 people.

"The Secretary-General strongly condemns the terrorist attack carried out yesterday in Quetta, Pakistan, targeting the Shi'a Hazara community which resulted in more than 80 persons killed and nearly 200 wounded, many of them were women and children," said a statement issued here by Ban's spokesperson.

Noting it was the second terrorist bombing against the minority Hazara community in Quetta this year, Ban called for "swift and determined action against those claiming responsibility and perpetrating such actions," the statement said.

A suicide bomber exploded a tanker-bomb in a busy market in the southwestern provincial capital of Quetta on Saturday, killing at least 63 people on the spot in Pakistan's southwestern provincial capital of Quetta.

Earlier January, at least 106 people were killed and over 150 others got injured when a suicide attack followed by a car bomb blast targeted the Hazara community in the city.
