MICE And RAT Babies

Babies Information

Baby mice are best taken care of by their mothers who provide all the necessary food, warmth and comfort the baby needs. If for some reason the baby is abandoned by its mother and you are required to raise the baby on your own, there are a few things you should know.

Baby mice with no fur require warmth and comfort – place the cage on a heating pad set to low and place a teddy bear in the cage for the baby to snuggle into. The teddy bear will help the baby feel safe and help trap the heat from the heating pad. Never set the heating pad above the low setting as too much heat will cause the baby to dehydrate and die.

Baby mice cannot go to the bathroom on their own. You will need to stimulate them to pee by rubbing their private parts with a Q-tip that has been dipped in warm water.

To feed your baby mouse, use a cold water mixture of Esbilac administered by syringe. To mix the formula, you must first calculate the weight of you baby and divide the weight of the baby by two to determine the total number of CCs to feed the baby.
