BJP national president Amit Shah today said the party’s trained workforce will win the 2016 assembly polls in West Bengal and its road to victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls will be through Kolkata.

“The BJP president, while emphasising the importance of strong organisation referred to the 2016 assembly election in West Bengal and said the party’s trained workforce will defeat Mamata Banerjee. With the help of strong organisation we will be able to govern right from panchayat to Parliament,” a press note of the party quoted Shah as having told a closed door meeting in Howrah.
“In 2014, BJP’s road to power in New Delhi was through Lucknow but in 2019 the party’s road to power in New Delhi has to be through Kolkata. It will go through Kolkata,” a senior BJP leader quoted Shah as having said at the meeting.
But before that trained BJP workforce will win 2016 Bengal assembly elections, he said.
During the day Shah launched BJP’s Mahasampark Abhiyan in the country’s eastern zone here.
The eastern zone of the Mahasampark Abhiyan consists of West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Sikkim and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Shah also said the eastern zone has been deprived of infrastructure development and therefore BJP needs to come to power here.
At the programme Shah stressed the need to reach out to the masses and spread the achievements of the one-year old NDA government at the Centre.
“Our national president Amit Shah expressed his happiness over the BJP membership figure reaching 43 lakhs. He said if we can put together the entire strength then we will positively do well in next year’s election,” a senior state BJP leader told PTI on condition of anonymity.

“He (Shah) has, however, stressed that we need to work harder to spread our organisation to the grassroots, in order to see the fruits of our membership drive,” he said.
Along with Shah, BJP general secretary (organisation) Ram Lal, the newly appointed observer for Bengal Kailash Vijayvargiya and other BJP leaders including Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das were present.
Ram Lal, a senior party leader, told the gathering that the recent organisational changes made at the observer level in Bengal was done with an eye on next year’s assembly polls and proved that Bengal tops the chart of BJP’s priority list.
Kailash Vijayvargiya was on Friday appointed the new in-charge of the party in West Bengal, replacing Siddharth Nath Singh, who was made BJP in-charge of Andhra Pradesh will now work as co-incharge of Bengal.
While briefing the media about the Mahasampark Abhiyan (Eastern Zone), BJP national general secretary Arun Singh said “The main aim of this Mahasampark Abhiyan is not just to enrol new members, but to build a strong team for a strong India.
