New Delhi: Social activist Anna Hazare and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will meet in the national capital on Tuesday. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief and the social activist are likely to deliberate on the campaigning strategies ahead of upcoming General Elections.

TMC general secretary Mukul Roy last week had said that Anna will campaign for party candidates all over India in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Roy had quoted Hazare as saying that Mamata was an “honest leader committed to root out corruption”. The TMC leader had met the social activist at his native village in Maharashtra.

Lauding Banerjee, Hazare said: “She lives in a 10 by 12 room, wears hawai chappals, she does not have a car.”

“I feel a ray of hope. If people stand beside such people, not much time will be taken for change the country. I want to say that after 66 years of Independence, nobody has thought of changing the economic system, but Mamataji has thought about it,” IANS quoted the 76-year-old activist as saying.

The Trinamool is set to contest seats outside the state. Banerjee would also campaign in states apart from West Bengal.

The Congress, however, scoffed at any understanding between Banerjee and Anna.
