Google introduces ‘invite-your-friend’ programme to boost Glass sales
Wellington – In a bid to have expanded sales of its highly-anticipated wearable computing device, Google has reportedly launched an ‘ invite-your-friend’ programme, in which the current Google Glass explorers will get to invite up to three friends to buy the hi-tech gadget.
Currently, there are roughly 10,000 Google Glass owners, mostly computer programmers and online contest winners, who are testing the device, and they will get to invite their friends to buy the 1,500 dollar worth eyewear.
According to stuff.co.nz, the search giant plans to unveil a less-expensive model of the Glass next year, however, the price and launch date have not been announced yet.
The highly controversial device, for its ability to scan people’s faces and show up their social media profiles, medical history, etc., includes a speaker, a hand-free camera, and a thumbnail-sized display screen attached to the frame above the right eye.
The report added that Google is also giving the early testers the option to exchange their current device for an improved version which includes an ear bud for better acoustics and works on prescription frames
