BHOPAL: World number 4 badminton player Saina Nehwal feels insecure while moving out of her home after reading stories about regular incidents of rape, sexual harassment and crime against women in newspapers.

She said, “I feel bad and hurt. It scares me to move out of home even in the day. Such incidents need to be stopped”.

Citing examples of countries such as Malaysia and Singapore, she said, “Girls and women in these countries can easily move out in the night without feeling unsafe as there are no such issues like in India. I hope government will come up with strict measures to stop these crimes”. She didn’t agree with the contention that women make themselves vulnerable by wearing revealing clothes. “Being a player I need to wear comfortable clothes. Girls like to wear fashionable clothes. I see no problem in that,” she added.
