Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli, who suffered a heart attack on Friday while driving and was taken to hospital by a traffic police officer, is stable and being monitored in the intensive care unit of the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. "He is in the intensive care unit and we are monitoring his medical parameters," hospital director Narendra Trivedi told reporters. "He is stable and there is nothing to worry about," he added. Kambli's wife, Andrea, also issued a statement saying her husband was stable and recovering. "He experienced chest pain in the morning, after which he was taken to the hospital. He's stable and recovering well," she said. Kambli was driving from Chembur to Bandra when he suffered the attack. He was taken to the hospital by a lady traffic officer. Reportedly, Kambli, 42, underwent angioplasty on two of his blocked arteries at the same hospital in July 2012, but the surgery was kept well under wraps. Kambli, who played 17 Tests and 104 ODIs for India, is known for his flashy lifestyle and friendship with batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, which hasn't been on cordial terms of late. More recently, Kambli was in news due to his emotional outburst against Sachin, saying that the two are no longer friends. Kambli was hurt because Sachin didn't mention his name in his farewell speech and then didn't invite him to the farewell dinner he hosted after retirement.
