New Delhi: The team that has wrecked havoc this season is certainly none other than Kings XI Punjab. Even after retaining only two players – Manan Vohra and David Miller – after auction, Punjab ended up making a well balanced side. In fact, it was Sanjay Bangar, their new coach, who worked a lot to form this team.

From the very first match, they gave the signals that KXIP meant business, when they went on to chase down a mammoth total of 200 plus, with an ease against the two-time IPL champions, Chennai Super Kings. In fact, in the first leg of the tournament, which took place in UAE, they won all their five matches, that too comprehensively.

In the first few matches, it was the sheer magic of Glenn Maxwell and Miller, who tore apart the opposition bowlers to make the games lop-sided. Then, the Punjab bowling line-up, led by Mitchell Johnson, came to the picture and helped the team to carry on their winning momentum.

In their sixth match, the George Bailey-led side lost the first match against Mumbai, at their fortress, when they failed to defend the total of 168 runs at Wankhede Stadium. But the team bounced back in the next game by putting up a huge total in front of CSK and emerged victorious by 44 runs.

So far, in the ten matches that Punjab have played, they have registered eight wins and have virtually sealed a place in the play-offs. In fact, with the help of their all-round display, they are right at the top in the point tables, at the moment.

As the tournament is progressing, their batting line-up is looking even more robust. On the other hand, their bowling unit is also performing at-par. The way this team is performing, it`s certainly a herculean task for any other team to stop them from winning their maiden title.
