Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper, MS Dhoni was annoyed with a five-star hotel’s refusal to allow his team to have home-made Biryani and forced the entire CSK team and support staff to move to a different hotel, according to a report.

The Mumbai Mirror reported that Hotel Grand Kakatiya in Hyderabad did not allow Dhoni and his team-members to have home-cooked Biryani sent by Ambati Rayudu. According to the rules of the hotel, food brought from outside is not allowed in their premises. But, the Grand Kakatiya had relaxed the rules a bit, allowing the players to have the food in their rooms.

However, Dhoni wanted to use the board room to share the home-cooked biryani with his team-mates, and after being denied permission, he retaliated by moving moving the team members and the support staff to a rival five-star hotel, Taj Krishna.

“Dhoni, whose team played against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing Champions League T20 (CLT20) on Wednesday, was so enraged by Hotel Grand Kakatiya’s refusal to let them enjoy the biryani, that he made the team management cancel the booking and move the team and support staff to the rival Taj Krishna,” the report said.

“Surprisingly, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials, who too were booked in the same hotel, followed Dhoni to Taj Krishna. And in a clear sign of Dhoni’s clout, BCCI chief N Srinivasan too cancelled his booking at Kakatiya for Wednesday,” it added.

While confirming that the CSK team members had abruptly left the hotel, a member of the hotel’s public relations team told Mumbai Mirror: “You should ask the Chennai team management what happened and why they vacated.”

“We don’t know if biryani was the cause of the shift. I’m told Dhoni was not happy with the hotel,” a top BCCI official said.
