Shikhar Dhawan to lead Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 7
New Delhi: Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has been announced captain of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), while Caribbean T20 skipper Darren Sammy has been appointed his deputy, the franchise announced on microbloggong site Twitter recently.
The southpaw has been associated with SRH for a while now, and was particularly impressive in IPL’s last season where he gave a number of breezy starts to his side.
“In top form as a right-handed batsman and a fast-medium bowler, Sammy’s experience in the sport as an all-rounder, as West Indies captain of the ongoing World T20 and his consecutive association with the franchise promises to lead the players as a team all the way up to the playoffs as in the previous season,” Sunrisers Hyderabad said in a release.
Other than Dhawan and Sammy, SRH boasts of enough firepower in the form of Indian leggie Amit Mishra, South African pacer Dale Steyn and Sri Lanka’s Thisara Perera.
The seventh edition of IPL will kick-start from April 16. The first 30 matches will take place in the UAE and the remaining matches will possibly take place in India.
