Yuvraj Singh failed to make it to India’s training session after twisting his ankle on Tuesday during a game of football between Team India players at the Dhaka Academy. He limped to the team bus after injuring himself.

The south-paw, who returned to form with a brilliant 60 against Australia, took rest as the team practiced at the Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Wednesday.

“Yuvraj Singh had a blow on his left ankle, for precautionary reasons he is taking rest today,” said Indian team media manger RN Baba in a release.

The 32-year-old has had a history of injury. In 2006, he had a ligament tear on his left knee while playing Kho Kho along with his teammates before the sport was banned.

Meanwhile, Mahendra Singh Dhoni & Co chose to avoid football in Fatullah and instead did the nets. Even there, medium-pacer Mohit Sharma was hit by a ball on the shin, however, he did not get injured. After applying ice packs, he was back on the ground for the fielding session.

India, who finished as the table toppers in the Super 10 of ICC World Twenty20, will take on South Africa in the semifinals at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium on Friday.
