On Valentine’s Day, we take you on a trip down memory lane and bring to you some of the most romantic scenes from Hollywood and Bollywood down the years.

Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995): It’s hard to pick just one scene from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge but we’re going to go with the final one – as Simran watches her dreams die a brutal death with the train taking Raj away from her, her forbidding father relents and and two hearts are joined in the most romantic way possible, courtesy Indian Railways.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998): Unrequited love on Anjali’s part sours the friendship between her and Rahul until many years later. Caught in a downpour, they share a tender moment and finally it seems that truly Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

Dil Toh Pagal Hai (1997): From romance factory Yash Raj Films came SRK’s chemical reaction with Madhuri in Dil To Pagal Hai. Madhuri loses her bangle, which SRK finds and tells her to come closer, much closer, to get it.

Bobby (1973): A young Rishi Kapoor meets an even younger Dimple Kapadia and it’s quite literally love at first sight.

Shri 420 (1955): This scene spawned a generation of romantics with the rain soaked Raj Kapoor and Nargis sharing an umbrella while singing Pyar Hua Ikrar Hua.

Titanic (1997): “I’m the king of the world” says Leonardo DiCaprio as he holds up Kate Winslet’s arms in the front of ship scene.

Love Actually (2003): Andrew Lincoln writes down on paper what he can’t put into words to Keira Knightley.

Ghost (1990): Before he became a Ghost, Patrick Swayze’s most romantic moment with Demi Moore was at her potter’s wheel, shaping clay.

The Notebook (2004): Country boy Noah falls for city girl Allie – they have nothing in common but he writes letters to her anyway for a year.

Pretty Woman (1990): In this poor girl made good story, Julia Roberts plays the prostitute who falls in love with Richard Gere, a rich businessman. Despite his fear of heights, he climbs up the fire escape to make it a happy ending for both of them.

Dirty Dancing (1987): Patrick Swayze is a dancer from the wrong side of the tracks – but that doesn’t stop Jennifer Grey from falling for him. It may not be a happily ever after for them but the dance they share at the end of their story is one to remember lifelong.

Sleepless In Seattle (1993): Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks meet at the top of the Empire State Building, with a little help from Tom’s young son and a radio show.

Lost In Translation (2003): Odd couple Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson share moments in Tokyo but before they part forever, he whispers into her ear.

An Officer And A Gentleman (1982): Naval officer Richard Gere makes it a fairy tale ending by carrying factory girl Debra Winger off the floor in his arms.

Casablanca (1942): Humphrey Bogart chooses to help Ingrid Bergman and her Resistance leader husband escape the Nazis but not before they share a passionate kiss.
