Loft Decorating

Loft apartments are preferred accommodation of the modern, young and upwardly mobile professional. The loft provides affordably living space at the beginning of a person's career. It is better to divide the loft into living area and sleeping area. If your loft has two levels make the upper level your bedroom. The living space should be divided into area to entertain, cook and dine. If the loft has only one level you could use a screen sliding doors to divide it into a living room and a bedroom. Here are a few tips to furnish and decorating the various rooms in your loft.

Tips for your bedroom:

  • Get a bed that has drawers so that have storage space as well.
  • Place a large wooden box at the end of the bed for storage.
  • If the floors of your loft are made on concrete use a rug to keep your feet warm.
  • Invest in a table with wheels so that it different purposes as and when the need arises.
  • As your visitors are likely to walk into your bedroom keep it as tidy as you can. Use laundry baskets to store your dirty linen.

Tips for your bathroom:

  • Use a colorful screen or sliding doors to isolate it from the rest of the house.
  • Arrange your furniture in such a way that the bathroom is not visible from your bed.

Tips for your kitchen:

  • Kitchen should be well light
  • Ensure you have a completely functional galley-style kitchen.
  • Use all the space you can find in the kitchen to store stuff by using metal racks and cupboards. Doing this will ensure that the counter top is free for cooking and dinning.
  • Buy good quality utensils and appliances, as they will last you a lifetime.

Tips for your living room:

  • For entertaining your guests place a rug in the living area and place a few brightly colored throw cushions on it. Add a coffee table to make things better.
  • A large table with 6 chairs would be a good buy for formal dinners.
  • Arrange the sofa in such a way in the living room that you get the best view of the city.
  • Buy good blinds that will keep direct sunlight out and prevent it from damaging your furniture.
  • Buy chairs that you can pile one on top of the other as they are easy to store and useful when you have a large gathering.

While decorating the loft you can use raw industrial décor, with contemporary steel and metal furniture, cement flooring and unplastered walls. The other option is to use French décor, with French style furniture, rugs, bright colored cushions thrown in, huge paintings and sculptures. The flooring is wooden or laminated. Use clean soft colors for your walls. Remember to furnish your loft with good quality stuff, as they should be a good investment and last you for sometime.
