The former Director General of Military Operations, Lieutenant General AK Chowdhary has confirmed the report carried first in the Indian Express that there were serious concerns in the government on the movement of a large army unit towards Delhi in January 2012. The Defence Minsiter AK Antony had slammed the report and the then Army Chief, General VK Singh had referred to it as being the “fables of a sick mind”. There are clear indicators now that the government was worried about the next move of General Singh who was in an open confrontation with the government over his age.
