Why no toilets at home means women at risk

In just a span of days, three cases of assault on women have emerged from Uttar Pradesh. Ironically, in all these cases, the women were easy targets. The assailants knew that at some point the women would come out of their homes, unaccompanied by any adult males, because they have to relieve themselves. For security, the women in these villages try to go out in groups or pairs, but each time they step out, they are vulnerable to horrific sexual violence and aggression.
