Row over Polavaram bill

There was chaos in the Rajya Sabha after the government pushed through an amendment to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill which transfers more than 300 villages, which are currently part of Telanangana, to Andhra Pradesh. This is being done to facilitate the construction of a massive new dam in Polavaram that will irrigate more than 7.2 lakh acres of land, but it will displace over two lakh people and submerge two lakh acres in Telangana, Odisha and Chhatisgarh as well.
