Muzaffarnagar riots: A year on, fear, trauma, still no justice

It has been one year since the Muzaffarnagar riots in western Uttar Pradesh in which more than 60 people died and over 50,000 became homeless. Two families on both sides of the communal divide have organised prayer meets to mark the death anniversaries of their sons – their stories of fear and trauma are similar. In fact, the emotions of fear and anger, suspicion are familiar to all in these areas where little has changed for those affected by the riots.
