Ranchi: Athletes polish shoes, sweep roads to draw attention to their economic condition

On the National Sports Day, athletes from Ranchi swept streets, polished shows to symbolically show how economically weak they are despite having played at national and state levels. The sports-persons say that they could not devote time to studying as they had spent their youth practicing for various games and hence they don’t get employed by private companies. The state and central governments don’t fulfill their promises of jobs and other remunerations, they add.(Audio in Hindi)
