Exploitation of workers engaged in garbage and sewer management

We take a look into the lives of workers who work for the sanitation department of Delhi to unravel startling facts about how they are exploited by contractors who hire them and how they have to work without sufficient safety gear. Sanitation workers say that they face stigma and untouchability in the society and people do not want them to even touch utensils that they use at homes. With PM Modi’s ‘Swacch India’ campaign soon to be launched we ask whether any measures would be taken to improve the lives of those who work for cleaning the garbage and sewers in our cities.
