Of Gotras, Khaps and Jat politics from a conservative village in Haryana

On Prime Time today, we take a tour of a remote village inside Sonepat district in Haryana where the deeply conservative residents are bound by traditions of caste and Gotras. On speaking to the elders of the village, we understand get to understand their cultural beliefs and sentiments upon which caste politics get played upon by politicians. Also, to our surprise, the villagers demonstrated how patriarchal their society is when they vehemently opposed giving the post of village head to a woman. (Audio in Hindi)
