Tarun Tejpal stepped down, it’s more than journalist asked for, says Tehelka

Amid searing criticism that Tehelka’s response to allegations of sexual assault against its editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal has been grossly insufficient, Shoma Chaudhary, the managing editor of the newsmagazine said today, “He stepped down. It was not something she’d asked for. It was over and above that.” Mr Tejpal has in a letter to Ms Chaudhary declared that he is stepping down for six months as “penance that lacerates me” after a young woman journalist accused him of sexual assault over two days in Goa earlier this month.
