‘Accountability minus authority’: Ex-Navy Chief’s explosive disclosures

In an exclusive interview, former Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral DK Joshi tells NDTV that the armed forces have been saddled with a dysfunctional and an inefficient model. Admiral Joshi, who resigned after a submarine mishap, says for him “being a chief was not just about preening on national TV on Republic Day parades when in actual fact, you are unable to get a set of batteries for your submarines.” In this scathing interview to NDTV’s Nitin Gokhale, Admiral Joshi says those who wield authority have no accountability and vested interests have stalled reforms in higher defence management.
