Sanskrit the solution to solving India’s linguistic divides?
On Prime Time, a discussion on the ruling government’s penchant towards Sanskit and its attempts to enforce studying the language. The government recently decided to do away with German as a third language in Kendriya Vidyalayas and replaced it with Sanskrit. Later, Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti said while speaking at a dialogue on water issues organized by her ministry that the problem of language barriers would go away only if we ‘adopt Sanskrit as a link language’.
