The gruesome attack on a school in Peshawar has brought the dilemma of ‘good’ vs ‘bad’ terrorists into the public domain. For long, Pakistan has been running with the hare and hunting with the hound – it pursued a policy of hot pursuit against Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan while nurturing anti-India terror outfits like the Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. But will the Peshawar incident be an eye-opener for Pakistan, or to be precise, its military establishment? Will the armed forces stop making distinctions among various terror outfits? Also, will the armed forces start realising that the real enemy lies in Pakistan’s own backyard?
