Cyclone Phailin to hit Odisha coast near Gopalpur any time now

Cyclonic storm Phailin, the strongest to hit India in more than a decade and classified as “very severe” so far, is about 20 kilometres away from Gopalpur in Odisha. It is expected to hit parts of the state and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh before 8 this evening, prompting the country’s biggest evacuation in 23 years.
