Can’t clubs have the liberty to ensure sartorial decorum?

On Hum Log, we discuss whether governments should interfere with private clubs and institutions laying rules to ensure sartorial decorum. Recently the Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa had stated that she would pass a law against clubs that deny entry to visitors who wear ‘dhoti’s after a judge was denied entry by TNCA for wearing ‘dhoti’. Should we take offense with rules that are branded ‘colonial’ or ‘west-influenced’ even though rules are for ensuring a code-of-conduct? We debate. (Audio in Hindi)
