23 ceasefire violations in August alone, the latest on Monday killed two civilians. As chaos erupted in the state assembly, Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah linked the spurt to the canceled foreign-sectary level talks between India and Pakistan. The BSF has said these are the worst ceasefire violations since 1971. Meanwhile, BJP’s Amit Shah quoted home minister Rajnath Singh as saying India will give a befitting reply to Pakistan. So we ask, what exactly should India’s reply be? India has already lodged a protest with Pakistan and the Director Generals of Military Operations of both sides have spoken and agreed to hold flag meetings to defuse the tensions. Will it work?
