Delhi University for ‘Delhiites’: Ghetto or gain?

The Social Network: After Congress and BJP, the ruling AAP is now proposing quota for ‘Delhiites’ in Delhi University. Considering the fact that it is a central university, does the offer by the new state rulers have any merit more than being a ‘populist claim’? With the given fabric of the national capital, who could be defined as ‘Delhiites’? Should they be thankful for a central university at their doorstep, or is it a cause of their suffering? Will the proposal result in the ghettoization of a differentiated institution? We discuss.
