IFFI 2014: Mohsen Makhmalbf on the poetry and politics of The President

Iranian filmmaker Mohsen Makhmalbf’s latest film The President opened the film festival. An exiled spokesperson on reform, the director faced arrest under the autocratic Iranian regime for critiquing the state through cinema. The filmmaker says that over the years he, himself has undergone a transformation. “My films are always poetic and politic, because I come from political perspective. I am still fighting with dictatorship,” he said.
