In village without toilets, a murder is a wake-up call

A narrow mud path leads to the village of Gosainpurva, abutting the city of Barabanki, barely an hour from Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow. Like many other villages in the state, there are no toilets in the village, so every day the women have no alternative but to brave the walk into the nearby fields.
