India Matters: In this high-profile, high-stakes volatile general election, we turn to two regions of the country that have already voted. Two troubled regions, separated by thousands of kilometers, both scarred by violence but where the anatomy of each conflict is very different. Interpreting voter turnouts is tricky business and often leads to misleading conclusions. But here, in these conflict zones, where the very idea of a nation, the idea of India comes into question, the very fact that elections are conducted and people actually come out to vote despite threats and boycott becomes a story in itself.
