Is apology enough for rape threat?

Trinamool Congress has accepted the apology of its MP Tapas Pal, who had threatened to send in his goons to rape women in the families of his political opponents. The party said that Tapas Pal appeared contrite and was deeply apologetic and as far as they are concerned, the matter stood closed. On The Buck Stops Here, we ask is that good enough, and will political parties ever expel politicians who make violent and sexist remarks?
