Jammu and Kashmir sarpanch shot by suspected militants, dies in hospital

Suspected militants attacked a sarpanch or village head in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday night. The gunmen stopped the car of Mohammad Sultan Bhat, near his residence and pumped bullets at him from close range, the police said. The incident happened at 9.30 pm. Mr Bhat was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
