National awards only for members belonging to ruling government’s fraternity?

On Prime Time, a discussion on the credibility of awards given to people by the ruling government, with vested political interests. It has been traditionally observed that national awards such as the Bharat Ratna have been bestowed upon leaders associated or a part of the ruling government only. The President’s office announced that Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee shall be awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour. (Audio in Hindi)
