Opposition slams Karnataka government’s ‘bidaai’ scheme, Yeddyurappa holds protest
K Siddaramaiah-led Congress government in Karnataka has landed itself in a controversy over its proposed scheme that promises to give Rs. 50,000 to Muslim girls from poor families at the time of their marriage. The “Bidaai scheme”, announced months ahead of the Lok Sabha polls due by May, is meant to help girls from families with annual income of Rs. 1.5 lakh or less.
