Punjab’s cancer politics

In Punjab, one of the biggest issues facing people in the agrarian belt is rising cancer cases – it’s almost an epidemic in some parts. This has led to deep anger among the people. Incidents of villagers chasing away candidates and their agents with black flags have been reported in several villages. But as netas canvass for votes, even this deadly disease has gotten politicized.
