Rampal was kept in captivity at ashram: Lawyer’s baffling claim

After a nearly 10-day-long violent stand-off between his supporters and the Haryana police, Rampal Maharaj was arrested on Wednesday night. He had ignored more than 40 orders from a court to appear in a murder case. On NDTV’s show The Big Fight, the 63-year-old guru’s lawyer claims that Rampal was not trying to avoid being arrested and did not use the thousands of devotees who formed a human chain to shield himself from the police. Instead, Rampal’s lawyer says, “He himself was being kept in captivity.” When asked by who, he said, “anti-social elements.”
