Stark poverty visibly apparent in Dalit villages of Uttar Pradesh

On today’s episode of News Point, we visit a village inhabited by Dalits and ‘adivasis’ near Allahabad where electricity and water supply seems no more than a distant dream for the villagers. The whole village survives on water drawn from hand-pumps and people claim they get no benefits whatsoever of the huge schemes rolled out by the central and state governments. (Audio in Hindi)
