‘Swacch Bharat Abhiyan’ only publicity stunt for celebrities and politicians?
On Prime Time, we discuss the various setbacks and questions raised against Prime Minister Modi’s Swacch Bharat Abhiyan including allegations that garbage was deliberately strewn on the floor for politicians to pretend sweeping for a photo-op. Also people representing the Dalit community allege that they wish to get out of this stigma of having been employed as cleaners and sweepers and now they may be forced to again be employed in cleaning jobs. Photographs posted on social media show sanitation workers deliberately strewing garbage on the floor before Delhi State BJP President Satish Upadhyay and AAP leader Shazia Ilmi posed for the cameras wielding brooms.
