Victory Amidst The Flames Sepoy Ansuya Prasad

Period : 1971 Indo Pak War

Squadron Leader Jag Mohan Nath was a highly decorated officer, having been ordered for Mahavir Chakra for his daring aerial sorties during 1962 war with China.

Nath however was not one to rest on his laurels. In 1965 he was in command of a Canberra unit of Indian Air force. He led his unit in several sorties across Pakistani territory in an attempt to garner vital information about enemy movements. Despite the dangers of leading an unescorted mission, Nath flew long distances deep into enemy territory, over well defended airfields and installations in broad daylight. On all occasions he undertook the mission himself. It was after great precuasion that he allowed his juniors to take on a few risky assignments.

The information he brought back enabled the Air force to plan attacks on vital enemy targets. The attacks hampered the Pakistani war efforts. For second time Squadron Leader Nath was honoured with the Mahavir Chakra.
