Islamabad – Pakistan’s Khyber Agency has registered a murder case against Dr Shakeel Afridi, who helped U.S. in tracking slain Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden to his hideout in Abbottabad, for operating a patient without permit.

According to the official sources, Naseeba Gul, mother of Salman Afridi, who is a resident of Sipah area in Bara, had lodged a complaint with the political agent five months ago, accusing Dr Shakeel of unlawfully conducting a surgery on her son that led to his death, Dawn News reports.
The surgery was conducted in 2007 in the private clinic of Dr Shakeel.

The agency surgeon told the administration that Dr Shakeel was a general cadre doctor, and not a specialist surgeon, hence he was not authorized to conduct any surgery, the report added.

Dr Shakeel is presently imprisoned in Peshawar jail on charges of having links with a banned outfit.

The political administration has registered a case against Dr Shakeel under sections 302 and 419 of Pakistan Penal Code and section 11 of Frontier Crimes Regulation, and fixed a hearing for December 20 inside the jail.
