Court refuses interim relief to Tejpal

The Delhi High Court which is hearing the anticipatory bail plea of Tehelka editor Tarun Tejpal in a sexual assault case on Tuesday refused to grant interim protection against his arrest till Wednesday.

In this connection, the high court issued notice to Goa Police and fixed for Wednesday the hearing on Tejpal’s plea.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tejpal termed the FIR as “politically motivated” and accused Goa chief minister of taking undue interest in it.

In a separate development, noted feminist and director of publishing house Zubaan Books Urvashi Butalia has refused to head Tehelka’s internal complaints committee set up to probe sexual assault allegations against its editor Tarun Tejpal, saying it was now not needed as the case was being investigated by police.
