ANKARA: A passenger train crashed into a minibus that was carrying workers to a factory in Turkey, killing 10 people and injuring five others, officials said.

Basri Guzeloglu, the local governor, said the train slammed into the vehicle on Thursday at a level crossing near the Mediterranean port city of Mersin.

All the dead were in the vehicle.

Three of the injured were said to be in a serious condition.

Guzeloglu said the cause of the accident would be investigated, but media reports said the crossing’s barrier arms were up at the time of the accident.

No one aboard the train, travelling from the southern city of Adana to Mersin, was hurt.
