Odisha: 11 killed as mini truck rams into tree
Eleven people were killed and 30 others were injured when a mini truck carrying around 50 members of a ‘tribal opera group’ rammed into a tree on Chandahandi Ghat in Nabarangpur district of Odisha, police said on Saturday.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Umerkote Gopinath Manipatro said all the people belonged to Dabugam area.
They were going to Chandahandi for a performance on the occasion of the Dussehra festival when their mini truck dashed against a tree at around 9.30 PM on Sunday night.
The seriously injured persons were shifted to Nabarangpur district head-quarters hospital while others were being treated at Umarkote hospital.
