Wildlife in India

Panna National Park

Location : 32 km from Khajuraho

Description

The road to Satna passes through this recently created park, lying along the River ken, 32 km from Khajuraho. It contains large areas of unspoilt forest and a variety of wildlife. There are tigers here but you'd be very lucky to see one. The numerous waterfalls in this area are popular picnic spots. Day trips often also take in a visit to the diamond mines at Majhgawan, the Rajgarh Palace and the temples of Panna town, 48 km from Khajuraho.

Season

The park is open year-round, but the best time to visit is in the cooler months; in summer the heat can take on furnace-like proportions.

Access

Access to the park is from the village of Madla, 22 km from Khajuraho.

Accommodation & facilities

Tree houses and tourist lodges are available in the vicinity of the Panna National Park to accommodate the visitors.

KEN RIVER LODGE

Ken River Lodge is 2 km from the Panna National Park. Swiss cottage tents with attached toilets and showers give you all the modern amenities along with the thrill of staying in a tent.
