Domestic car sales surged by 15.26 per cent in December 2014 over 2013

Domestic passenger car sales rose by 15.26 per cent to 1,52,743 units in December 2014 as compared to 1,32,524 units in the corresponding month of 2013.

Motorcycle sales in December last year declined by 3.52 per cent to 7,79,908 units from 8,08,389 units in 2013, according to data released by auto sector body Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

Vehicle sales across categories registered an increase of 5.68 per cent to 15,12,881 units from 14,31,543 units in December 2013, the industry body added.

Total two-wheeler sales climbed up by 4.52 per cent to 12,12,996 units in the reporting month.

Sales of commercial vehicles surged by 9.01 per cent to 51,000 units in December, 2014, SIAM said.
