New Delhi – Jacqueline Fernandez met Mayor Sunil Prabhu to put forward a report on the ill treatment of horses forced to draw carriages, in Mumbai.

The 28-year-old Sri Lankan actress said, “I have come here with PETA, because there are many problems with the horse drawn carriages and we need a solution. Because all the stables in Mumbai are illegal and that’s why we wanted to meet Mumbai commissioner and talk about the issue”.

“What PETA and I want is that all the stables in Mumbai should be legal. If they are legal then we can see if it’s running well, if animals are being looked after well. So basically it’s very important to see if the stables in Mumbai are legalized. As of now they are illegal so they don’t know if the animals are being treated and it’s against animal’s right to be treated unfairly, she added.

The Mayor has assured her and the members of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) that he would look into the matter and take necessary steps.
