Scotland has rejected the historic vote for independence as an overwhelming majority of the 32 areas rejected leaving the United Kingdom.
Nearly all the votes have been declared so far and only 5 , including Glasgow, Dundee and West Dunbartonshire, said ‘Yes’
BBC showed that in the total vote , the vote against independence was comfortably leading by around 55%
Scotland’s biggest city Glasgow voted Yes , but that was not enough to change the tide, Clackmannanshire was the earliest to declare, with “No”. Voters in the Western Isles, Orkney, Renfrewshire and Shetland also voted against independence.
The leader of the ‘Yes’ campaign for independence, Alex Salmond, conceded defeat and called on all of Scotland to respect the verdict.
