500 homes destroyed in fire at slum in South Delhi
New Delhi – A huge fire is being reported at a large slum in Vasant Kunj in South Delhi, which has nearly 500 huts.
28 fire engines have been sent to put out the flames, said officials, who stressed that nobody is reported hurt so far.
The fire was reported at 8.30 a.m.
“We are still in the process of dousing the fire, and the reason is yet to be ascertained. Close to 500 jhuggis (huts)” are up in flames, the official said.
