Mulayam Singh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party is mulling its continuance of support to the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre.

SP leader Naresh Agarwal on Monday said the party is going to discuss about continuing support to the Congress-led government.

The party will discuss if there is any benefit in continuing this alliance, Agarwal was reported as saying.

Agarwal hit out at the UPA ministers for forcing the Samajwadi Party to do a rethink on the alliance.

“The way Central government ministers are coming to Uttar Pradesh and asking for the resignations of state government ministers, we will have to hold a discussion on our alliance,” Agarwal said.

The Samajwadi Party, with 22 Lok Sabha MPs, supports the UPA government from the outside.

The development comes, crucially, in the wake of the CBI closing its disproportionate assets case against Mulayam Singh.
